Red-winged Blackbird

Bird ID:  Bird31

Blackthumb Bob says:

Red-winged Blackbird photo taken spring 2000.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Bird ID:  Bird32

Blackthumb Bob says:

On an early spring day (2000), rainy and colder than previous days, I saw this bird (which I have identified as Rose-breasted Grosbeak) on a feeder. I set up the camera! The pictures are not very good, but I believe they validate the ID.... (These are the "good" ones -- should see the one's I discarded!)

My guess is this bird was on its way north for the summer and stopped in for a pit-stop at the feeder.

Chipping Sparrow

Bird ID:  Bird33

Blackthumb Bob says:

Here is a nice picture of a little bird. I took this be a sparrow, but could not settle on which one.

Leon Fisk (in rec.birds) suggests:

[This] may be a Chipping Sparrow.

Van (also from rec.birds) confirms:

The sparrow is a chipping sparrow, by the white line over the bill, an immature one, I think.

American Crow

Bird ID:  Bird34

Blackthumb Bob says:

This pack of crows seemed to be attacking a Mockingbird nest (lower left corner of image). I counted at least four Mockingbirds in defense. I made a loud noise and scared the crows away.
