1 This name appears spelled differently on different records. Her marriage License to John H. Snodgrass bears this spelling (Ailsy). On the marriage license of her son, Harry Lee, it is spelled "Alsy" and on the 1880 census records it is spelled "Alcy"

2I am unsure as to who is the mother of Harry Lee. His marriage license states him to be the son of Ailsy (Hubbard) Snodgrass, but I have his Date of Birth as 1868 wich is 4 years before the John Hunt Snodgrass/Ailsy Hubbard marriage. On the 1870 Census, Harry Lee is listed as being 1 year old and Ailsy Hubbard is listed as a house keeper. Elizabeth P. Snodgrass was the wife of John Hunt Snodgrass at the time of Harry Lee's Birth.

3Like Harry Lee, Webster was born before the marriage of John Hunt Snodgrass and Ailsy Hubbard. He too appears on the 1870 Census that indicates Elizabeth P. Snodgrass as wife of John Hunt Snodgrass and Ailsy Hubbard as house keeper.

In 1936, the Rev. Patrick Eugene Snodgrass, grandson of John H. Snodgrass said: John Hunt Snodgrass was a son of George and Nancy Snodgrass. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Litton in Russell Co., and settled on the Pound. Betty died and John H. married, second Alcy, d/o Robert Shanklin Hubbad. A few years before the outbreak of the War between the States, he steeled on Benges Branch, now the West End of Norton, where he kept a store and operated a mill and tanyard. He seems to have been a man of unusaul business ability for his time.
